GM David NavaraDavid Navara is the best Czech chess player of these days. In 1997 he won the bronze medal on the U12 World Championship, a year later he was in the older category of the same event even one step higher. In 2001 he scored 7 points in the 9 round European Team Championship and with a brilliant performance of 2775 fulfilled his first GM norm. The grandmaster title was then achieved a year later when he won the famous chess festival in Polanica Zdroj, Poland. On this year's Wijk an Zee he made draws with the black pieces against the three best chess players in the world - Kramnik, Topalov and Anand. His highest position on the FIDE rating list was number 14 on the April 2007 list.
